Manufacturing mode of seamless steel pipe

When it comes to producing hot-rolled seamless steel pipes, automatic rolling mills are typically utilized. In order to ensure the utmost safety and quality, the tube blank is thoroughly inspected for any surface defects before being cut to a specific length. Once cut, the tube is then sent to a heat treatment furnace for heating, which guarantees the cracking process on the cutting machine. Through the use of hot-rolled strip and the top edge, an inner cavity - also known as a capillary - is gradually formed within the tube blank.

 

Further production takes place on a fully automatic tube rolling mill, where secondary cold rolling is carried out. The entire machine is sized through a wall thickness sizing machine to ensure it meets the required specifications and models. For smaller specifications and better quality, options such as cold rolling, cold drawing, or a combination of the two can be used. Ultimately, the use of a rotary mill is a superior production method for creating high-quality hot-rolled seamless steel pipes.

 



Seamless steel pipes are commonly cold rolled using a twin roll extruder. This process involves passing the pipe through an annular plate hole, which consists of a circular hole with a varying cross-section and a fixed tapered top edge. Additionally, cold drawing is performed using a polypeptide chain or double chain cold drawing machine, typically with a capacity of 0.5~100T.

 

During the extrusion method, the warm tube blank is placed within a sealed extrusion cylinder. An extrusion rod is then utilized to exert pressure, causing the extrusion of the material from a smaller die hole. This process ensures the formation of a seamless pipe that meets the desired specifications.

 

Seamless steel pipes serve a wide range of purposes thanks to their versatility. They are commonly cold-rolled from ordinary carbon steel, low-alloy tool steel, or alloy tool steel. Among these varieties, general-purpose seamless steel pipes exhibit the highest output and are primarily employed as pipelines or structural components for liquid transportation.

 

Regarding supply, seamless steel pipes are categorized into three types. The first is supply based on composition and physical properties. The second is supply solely based on physical properties. Lastly, there is supply based on pressure testing, ensuring the pipes meet the necessary safety standards.
